ABOUT STUDY

The teaching is held in English. Graduate of this study program commands various levels of English language (phonetic and phonological, morphosyntactic and lexical) and functional styles of the English language in a confrontation with the Slovak language. He also knows the basics of literal disciplinary and literal history of English literature. He will acquire basic procedures, analysis and interpretations of literary text and will know the basic methodologies of selected linguistic and literal scientific schools and directions.

Graduate of English language for commercial purpose is eligible to serve as an assistant, personnel, human resource manager, public official, project manager, consultant, marketing assistant, administration officer, cultural worker, worker for public relations and as a worker for non-profit organizations. This study terminates with a theoretical state examination and the thesis defence. Graduates receive the Bc. degree. .

ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The Catholic University in Ružomberok is a public university with religious character. The Conference of Slovak Bishops and National Council of the Slovak Republic took part in its foundation.

CU performs its activities especially in the areas of the humanities, historical, pedagogical, and social and health sciences, as well as in the areas of art, economics, management, and law.

The main mission of CU is to discover the truth and disseminate it on the grounds of the cause of Truth. According to the Apostolic Constitution of John Paul II, Ex Corde Ecclesiae, “It is the honour and responsibility of a Catholic University to consecrate itself without reserve to the cause of truth. This is its way of serving at one and the same time both the dignity of man and the good of the Church (…) Catholic University is distinguished by its free search for the whole truth about nature, man and God“ (Introduction part 4). In order to find the truth, CU undertakes to support knowledge through its research and publications. This responsibility leads to the unity of both staff and students in all areas of academic life, especially in professional education and research activities.

ABOUT CITY

Ružomberok ( pronunciation (help·info); German: Rosenberg; Hungarian: Rózsahegy; Polish: Rużomberk) is a town in northern Slovakia, in the historical Liptov region. It has a population of around 30,000(45,000 with nearby villages).

It is situated at the westernmost reaches of the Sub-Tatra Basin, more exactly its subdivision Liptov Basin, surrounded by the mountain ranges of Chočské vrchy, Greater Fatra and Low Tatras. Rivers flowing through the town are Váh, from east to west, Revúca, a left tributary from the south, on the way to Banská Bystrica and Likavka brook from the north, on the way to Dolný Kubín. The town is located around 65 km from Žilina, 190 km from Košice and 260 km from Bratislava (by road). Besides the main settlement, it also has "city parts" of Biely Potok, Černová, Hrboltová and Vlkolínec.

ABOUT COUNTRY

The Slovak Republic (short form: Slovakia) is a landlocked state in Central Europe. It has a population of over five million and an area of about 49,000 square kilometers. Slovakia is a landlocked country bordered by the Czech Republic and Austria to the west, Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east and Hungary to the south. The largest city is the capital, Bratislava, and the second largest is Košice. Slovakia is a member state of the European Union, NATO, United Nations, OECD and WTO among others. The official language is Slovak, a member of the Slavic language family.

CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION

  • Highschool leaving certificate
  • Good knowledge of the English language
  • Passing the entrance examination
  • Submission of the online application form with timely payment of fees

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Step 1

Submit a completed online application form, pay the application fee (includes entrance exam fee) and send supporting documents.

The supporting documents are:

  • Contract Mediation study (applicant shall sign both copies, which will send with other documents. Agency Dievrinsis send you back one signed original)
  • A completed University Application Form
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) - in English
  • High School Leaving Certificate (original or verified copy) - two copies required - one for the University and one for the Regional Authority Office. One of the certificates has to be present with an Apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in home country.
  • Photocopy of the passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Proof of application fee payment - bank swift + completed fee transfer form

All these documents must be provided in original or as verified copies (with original stamps and signatures).

Receive a university acceptance/rejection letter or provisional acceptance* letter.

* The provisional acceptance letter means that admission into the University is pending until all documents are submitted and the applicant pays the tuition fee.

Step 4

If accepted to the University, students must pay the registration fee within 14 days after receiving the letter of acceptance.
