Since the academic year 2007-2008 there at the Medical University of Sofia, English-speaking parts of the Medical School.

Studying Medicine is structured in three stages and lasts six years.
- The first stage is the pre-clinical training (two years) and provides the necessary general knowledge of biology and medicine, laying the foundations of medical education of students.
- The second stage is the clinical training (three years), in which students are trained to diagnose and treat diseases.
- The third stage is the undergraduate internship (one year), which takes place in university hospitals, polyclinics clinics and laboratories. The aim is to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in patients and to gain experience in the application.

The undergraduate internship concludes with state examinations and successful applicants awarded a Master's degree and the title of Doctor of Medicine with the right exercise general medicine. With the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union as a full member, the above university program recognized automatically by the DOATAP (former D.I.K.A.T.S.A.). Graduates can directly get a license to practice in Greece or any other European country. The attendance fees for each academic year in the English-speaking parts is € 8,000 and paid in two installments at the beginning of each semester. How to Import: Test of English (August )


The Medical University of Sofia was established in 1917 by Tsar Ferdinand I as a faculty of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohrid". In 1950, seceded from the rest and transformed into University Medical College with two faculties: Medicine and Dentistry. In 1951, created the School of Pharmacy and after a series of administrative reforms in 1995, the Academy becomes an Medical University. Today, the internationally renowned Medical University of Sofia is one of the largest medical, academic and scientific centers in Europe in the field of medical education.


Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is located in western Bulgaria, at the slopes of Mount Vitosha. Occupies a strategic position in the center of the Balkan Peninsula. The history of Sofia spans 2,400 years. Its ancient name Sardica from the local Celtic tribe of Sardis, who founded the city in the 5th century BC It remained a relatively small settlement until 1879, when it became the capital of Bulgaria. It is the 15th largest city in the European Union with a population of approximately 1.3 million. In Sofia are concentrated many of the major universities, cultural institutions and businesses of Bulgaria.


Bulgaria, a country located in the heart of the Balkans, has a population of 7.6 million inhabitants, has joined the EU 2007 and the national currency is the Lev. Bulgaria was founded in 681 and is one of the oldest states of Europe. The position, close to the border of Europe and Asia, has affected its history. Approximately 85% of the population are Orthodox Christians and 13% Muslims. Displays varied topography: the north lie the vast plains of the Danube, while in the south there are mountainous areas and plateaus. The Black Sea, to the east, attracts tourists all year round. The position has made it a crossroads of various cultures and as such has highlighted some of the oldest metallurgical, religious and other cultural artifacts in the world.

Step 1

Submit a completed online application form, pay the application fee (includes entrance exam fee) and send supporting documents.

The supporting documents are:

  • Contract Mediation study (applicant shall sign both copies, which will send with other documents. Agency Dievrinsis send you back one signed original)
  • A completed University Application Form
  • Photocopy of high school graduates certified with authentication signature (school graduation), with seal Hague (the District)
  • Certified photocopy score Lyceum stamped Hague from secondary education
  • Document certification of high school graduation candidate who gives the right to continue in higher education in Greece (AEI and TEI) stamped Hague
  • Established medical health certificate, health certificate for the required medical examination by a state hospital and then go to the prefecture owned hospital to seal the Hague
  • Certificate from school graduation to graduate high school has the right to participate in the exam for admission in Greek Universities
  • Four photographs (passport)
  • Photocopy of identity card
  • Offering financial aid need affirmation from parents of candidates and for the entire period of study of the candidate in the Republic of Bulgaria to indicate that the candidate will always comply with the laws of the country (at a police station or ADS)
  • Proof of application fee payment - bank swift + completed fee transfer form
